An estimated 50,000 people with autism graduate from high school each year, many capable of working in a wide range of jobs and professions. Yet, 75 percent remain unemployed two years later. Hire Autism maintains an autism-friendly jobs portal for job seekers on the spectrum and employers willing to consider them for employment. Hire Autism will increase the effectiveness of its portal by adding a previously missing ingredient: personalized support from encore-stage adults. Over the next five years, the group plans to match 500 adults 50+ — including many parents and grandparents already knowledgeable about autism — as job advocates for 2,000 young job seekers with autism, increasing their chances of finding meaningful work.
