Gen2Gen Partner FAQ

What do Gen2Gen and its partners hope to achieve?

The Gen2Gen campaign works with and through partners and activists to reach our goal: mobilizing 1 million adults 50+ to stand up for — and with — young people today. Powered by Encore.org, Gen2Gen is a diverse and growing community bringing the generations together to improve life for all, helping youth-serving organizations tap experienced talent, and telling a new story about living Gen2Gen.

Who are Gen2Gen’s partners?

More than 200 organizations have already joined the Gen2Gen campaign as partners because they believe in the power of intergenerational relationships and are interested in joining forces with and learning from others who think the same way.

What does it mean to be a Gen2Gen partner?

Becoming a partner means your organization shares Gen2Gen’s vision that bringing the generations together will realize the potential of longer lives, the potential of every child, and the power of older and younger generations working side by side for change. Your organization’s logo on the Gen2Gen website and in our materials shows that you believe older adults can contribute in important ways to the well-being of young people.

What do partners say about Gen2Gen?

Here are just two quotes:

“We’re thrilled to be attracting more adults over 50 and to be partners in this effort to allow more people to experience the mutual benefits of intergenerational relationships.”
David Shapiro, CEO of MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership

“Gen2Gen is thriving in the city of San Jose. We’re going to make great things happen with older adults. We’re going to lift the aspirations and opportunities of thousands of our young people. We’re fired up!”
— Mayor Sam Liccardo, San Jose

What does Gen2Gen provide for partners?

Gen2Gen provides partners with content, ideas, visibility and community to achieve the shared vision of a nation that invests the assets of aging in the future of young people.

Gen2Gen helps you spread the word about your work; attract more followers to your social media pages and reach new supporters; find encore talent to build your capacity; create intergenerational gatherings; learn about funding opportunities like the Encore Prize and funded Encore Fellows; and make new connections with a growing community of like-minded organizations, practitioners and activists.

If your organization operates youth-serving programs, Gen2Gen can help you with resources, learning opportunities and innovative ideas. We can help you attract and engage older adults as volunteers, job applicants and advocates. And we can help you create an intentional intergenerational strategy and find a learning community where you can ask questions and exchange best practices.

If your organization’s networks include older adults, Gen2Gen can help you provide them with interesting content and opportunities to help young people thrive.

What does Gen2Gen expect from its partners?

We hope you’ll find the information, resources and ideas we send in monthly communications helpful, and we hope you’ll let your networks know about Gen2Gen initiatives and opportunities.

Is there a cost to become a partner?

No.
